_Backstory

Video Promotions aims to provide clients with more than they expect and help them to enjoy the process of communicating on video.

Telling the story in a way which engages the audience is the key to producing successful videos.

_Why use Video Promotions?

In 2001 Video Promotions was selected by The Friedman Group – the largest and most sought-after training organization in the world – to produce the demonstration videos for their customized retail training programmes.

Video Promotions has frequently won national and international awards, both here and in the USA, and regularly submits examples of its work for peer review in the annual New Zealand ITVA Video Awards. 2001 saw us collect the top award in the Internal Communications category for "When Food Goes Bad!" at video festivals in two countries. In 2003 we were awarded Gold in the same category at the Media Communications Association – International video awards for “Under The Microscope: Flying Colours”.

Perhaps this is one of the reasons why some of our major clients, such as Woolworths, Pharmacy Guild of NZ, Whitcoulls, Watercare Services, Repco Auto Parts, Tisco and Pacific Retail Group (Bond & Bond, Noel Leeming), have contracted us to produce regular quarterly, bi-monthly and even monthly staff video magazines.

Companies such as Microsoft New Zealand, DB Breweries, Telecom Mobile, Pacific Retail Group, QANTAS, Whitcoulls, Mercedes, Watercare and Vector have used Video Promotions' expertise to produce everything from internal product launches, external communication and staff training videos to CDROM based sales presentations. They appreciate the investment in effective visual communication to make sure the entire company is buying into the message.

_Why use Video for internal communication?

Roadshows are an expensive hangover from the 50's. Video is almost always the most cost-effective way to ensure everyone in the business gets the same message, at the same time, with the most impact and recall.

The benefits to a business of using video as part of its internal communication strategy are that video involves the audience, it’s interactive, has an emotional impact, and, as the majority of understanding comes from visual recognition, it helps to ensure participation and acceptance of your communication message – fast and easily.

Our many projects include conference videos and support (for NZ businesses from Bali to Vancouver), training videos on disciplinary procedures, HR resources such as "Developing Operational Excellence", a multi award-winning Food Safety First launch for Woolworths, a series of butchery benchmark videos, regular quarterly team video magazines, staff overseas recruitment videos, and international award-winning internal communication pieces.

Our reputation for cost-effective and efficient video production has even seen us producing supermarket, hypermarket, and retail chain profile video projects in Hong Kong and Taiwan for Dairy Farm International.

Video Promotions' experience over the last 14 years, with over 1,700 satisfied clients throughout Australasia, means we understand how efficient and effective you need to be in video visual communication.

A major strength of Video Promotions is the ability to handle every aspect of your video communications project, from the brief, scripting, planning the strategy for completion of the project, studio work and editing, through to finished VHS/CD-ROM/DVD-R/Web clips, and much more.

Managing Director Steve King established Video Promotions when he bought out the in-house video communications division of Repco Merchants (NZ) Ltd, taking it from a back-office VHS video department to one of the top corporate video production companies in New Zealand.

As National President of International Television Association of New Zealand (ITVA-NZ) Steve increased national membership by 1500% over his three-year tenure and is immediate past international representative to the parent organisation, MCA-I in the US, member of the NZ Film and Video Technicians Guild (NZFVTG) – he has represented the guild on the board of the Academy of Film And Television Arts (AFTA) and the UNITEC Postgraduate Diploma in Performing and Screen Arts advisory committee. He is a member of the Auckland Chamber of Commerce, past Chairman of the Northern Area Performing Theatre Awards, and an industry representative on the advisory committee for the Digital Video Production Diploma of the NZ Media Design School.

Steve believes that his involvement with these organisations has given him a better understanding of the politics of the industry and how the different disciplines work together in creating great video communication..

As a side-bar, Steve has also performed as an actor and singer in more than a dozen stage productions – both professional and non-professional – acted in many non-broadcast videos, directed for stage and fronted a 14-piece show-band. So experience working with performers and directors, and an in-depth understanding of theatrical production, are further assets he brings to Video Promotions work.
