There was no shortage of offers of female assistance on one recent shoot. As an official sponsor of Auckland Theatre Company we recently produced a series of TVC's for its final 2003 show- Ladies Night. The script called for members of the male cast to take part in videoed mock auditions for the show's fictional male revue the 'Hot Rods' and made for an hillarious few hours in The Pinnacle Club in central Auckland. Director Oliver Driver has been working with the cast -which includes TV3's 'The Strip' star Robbie Magaseva, and 'Mercy Peak's' Sarah Wiseman- and the show's writers Stephen Sinclair and Anthony McCarten in updating the script... for the 80s. Our most cringe-making decade definitely looks better naked! The final result screens on TV 1 until mid-December and the show (which opens Nov 13th at SKYCITY Theatre) is sure to be every bit as popular and successful as last year's Rocky Horror Show. Every business enquiry via this website this month also goes into the draw for 4 tickets to the show in December. See, wasn't it worth reading this far? We're looking forward to having just as much fun with ATC in 2004.
Take a hand-picked group of leading New Zealand comedians with a proven track record in writing and performing topical and satirical comedy on a daily basis. Combine them with an experienced and award-winning TV production team with a 'feel' for comedy. Now let this team loose for 5 consecutive weeks at The Classic - New Zealand's 'home of comedy' in front of a live audience with a show designed to capture the winning elements of live comedy with the small screen in mind. Add a dose of reality TV and you have 'Classic'- an adventure in televised New Zealand comedy. Video Promotions has joined forces with new comedy production company Windsor Castle Productions to create an exciting new concept in live comedy that can be recorded and edited on a weekly basis for the consumption of prime time television viewers nationwide. Imagine a comedy show about a live comedy show set in a comedy club. 'Classic' is WCP's first project as part of it's mission to get more NZ comedy on television, increase the business potential of being a comedian, and increase exposure for 'The Classic' Comedy and Bar which we established 6 years ago. An hilarious, technically ambitious, audience-sponsored mixture of live and pre-recorded material, the show included a cross-dressing society commentator, live video feeds throughout the club, interviews with some of New Zealand's most well-known (well... well-recognised) actors, and of course, the Angry Comedian ("grrrh, grrrh"... OK, you had to be there). 'Classic' is television personality Jeremy Corbett's big comeback show, and, along with co-hosts Paul Ego and Beverly, Floor manager Sully, radio announcer and producer Kim Adamson, and of course Video Promotions' Steve King, he intends to bring topical variety TV back to the New Zealand viewing public. If the broadcasters can just realise his potential. And if the rest of the cast don't mutiny first. Update: TV3 decided that 'Classic' wasn't for them unfortunately, but we're free to pitch it to other broadcasters so who knows? Updated Update-20/12/03: 'Classic' won "Best New Concept" at the 2003 NZ Comedy Guild Awards and it's host Jeremy Corbett won "Best MC". What do the broadcasters know!? ('Classic was also nominated for "Best Show" but lost out to the only other nominee "Flight of the Conchords"- 2003 Perrier nominees so fair enough).
Video Promotions recently spent a week with E! Entertainment presenter and model Cindy Taylor recording links and items onL'Oreal NZ Fashion Week for the entertainment channel to use on it's 'Wild On' programme. We were engaged by SKY TV as the local production company to work with Cindy's producer, ensuring that they got access to all the best parties and shows with a top-notch ENG crew. We were also charged with organizing local events outside of Fashion Week to give our overseas visitors a taste of NZ which would make good television. In conjunction with Manukau City we organised a cultural experience with powhiri, cultural performances and local kai at the Nga Kete Wananga Marae (Cindy swung a mean poi!). Heliflight also provided a flight to Waiheke Islands Stonyridge Vineyard for lunch and tasting of their famous LaRose which will also feature. Keep an eye for this material on E! over the coming weeks.
Multiflora required editing of existing video material into a presentation to be played on their promotional stand at a 2003 European trade show. The video had to preview the latest selection of Calla exotic flowers from their client Pukekaroro Exotics Ltd in an eye-catching manner. It also had to be produced for maximum impact and ease of playback. As with most tradeshow presentations DVD gave Multiflora the best combination of quality and low-maintenance 'looping' during the show, as well as flexibility of playback on any DVD player or DVD-R-capable PC. We were able to provide expert advice on what tradeshow presentations require, covering everything from the style and content of the video, to the most suitable playback format and equipment. The benefit to Multiflora of implementing our suggestions was that video did a better job of attracting attention to their display and presented more product in the short time that they had the audience's attention. |
